Dear Parents,
I was listening to the news last night. One of the topics was on driving statistics and the conclusion was that still the 16 year olds are the worst drivers.
I would like to ask you where do you expect them to learn how to be safe drivers? In their high school? From you?
The fact is that many high schools do not offer driver’s ed, others do but not everyone can get into the classes, and even if they do get in, because of budget constraints most of the material taught is outdated. Parents often do not have the time, patience or knowledge.
Thankfully some states require formal drivers ed for teenagers, but what about West Virginia? The only requirement is having 30 hours behind the wheel with a licensed driver 21 or older. In many cases it is like having the blind leading the blind.
Parents do not let your son or daughter become a statistic. Give them a chance to become a safe driver and rise above the negative statistics. Being safe on the road starts with proper training and attitude, professional instruction is the key. We can help.
